4 Local Fashion Brands to Appear at ASEAN International Fashion Week

The Indonesian modest fashion industry continues to grow. The large number of Muslim residents in the country is one of the drivers. However, players in this industry are not only targeting the domestic market. Some of them are also expanding their wings abroad, where the market is considered to have great potential.

Not surprisingly, international fashion events are always a golden opportunity to showcase the best work to global eyes. This effort is also being carried out by four local modest fashion brands who have the opportunity to appear at the ASEAN International Fashion Week (AIFW), which will be held on June 7-9 at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The four brands are Satinese, Visola, Hafita, and Hijaberlin. They will display special collections prepared for this prestigious event.

So, what are the details of the collections they will display? Here is an explanation from the four women who own the brands.

Elegant Collection Made from Satin

Satinese is a brand that is quite unique. Just as the name suggests, Satinese offers clothing products made from satin. The distinctive characteristics of satin material, which is soft and looks luxurious, are processed into various kinds of trendy daily wear clothing. For the upcoming AIFW event, Satinese will present a special collection made from satin, as well as exploring other materials.

“Satinese displays its latest collection, which is an elegant concept presented through organza material and plisket models. We also innovated by exploring an attire model that was previously rarely used, namely the satin blazer. Satinese aims to evoke fashion uniqueness through satin blazers, offering beautiful and elegant attire,” explained Anggi Desthiati, the brand owner, in an online conversation recently.

Floral Reverie, Nature Themed Collection

The next brand ready to walk the AIFW runway is Visola. This local brand was born in 2023 through a simple product in the form of a Palestinian motif hijab, sold as a form of support for that country in the Palestine-Israel conflict. Since then, Visola has released various other elegant Muslim clothing.

At the upcoming AIFW, Visola will release its newest collection called Floral Reverie. “The newest collection from Visola that will be displayed is Floral Reverie which has a nature theme according to the colors of our products, which mostly use natural soft pastel colors. Inspired by the Visola Holiday Collection, which recently released fashion products from eco-friendly materials, and exploring local perfume shops in various Indonesian cities, we created design ideas for the latest Visola Floral Reverie collection,” explained Stephanie Ade Irawan, owner of the Visola brand.

Carrying a Feminine Romantic Style

Furthermore, the brand that will not miss out on showing its newest collection is Hafita. This brand, with a strong Acehnese design influence, will appear at AIFW as one of the agendas in the international roadshow they are currently conducting. Special for AIFW, Hafita will present a ready-to-wear collection with a feminine romantic style.

“Hafita presents various cutting options in H, I, and A line cuts using premium raw materials, namely satin silk, credenza, and dobby poly micro with digital printing motifs typical of Aceh and beautiful Pinto Aceh embroidery details with a combination of lace, tulle, and lace to further strengthen the beauty of the HAFITA fashion collection,” said Cut Hafita Aini, the brand owner.

Melebur dengan Budaya Indonesia

The last brand that will also show its newest collection at AIFW is Hijaberlin. This brand from Depok is one of the favorite brands of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The choice of ready-to-wear products and luxurious premium mukenas are always sought after by pilgrims who are leaving for or have just returned from the Holy Land. For AIFW, Hijaberlin has prepared an exclusive collection titled “Sacred Serenity,” which has been designed several months in advance to produce an amazing collection.

“We welcome the opportunity to appear at AIFW. The design team and I want to make the best use of this opportunity to show Hijaberlin’s identity through our premium products. We have prepared a collection of cut-out dresses combined with layering to keep them modest. The sequins ornaments are also designed in such a way that they look bold but still elegant,” explained Ayu May Fakih, owner of the Hijaberlin brand.
